My Supporters

With over 20 years in industry, I have built long term relationships and trust with OEMs and key influencers, and I sit on several industry boards. Below are some industry leaders that support my SEMA plan. To see the full list and what they have to say about me, look here:

I was completely blown away with Brian’s knowledge and experience in that industry…He is the CEO of Opus IVS, a large diagnostics/calibration company dealing mostly with the OE’s and the dealer network. You may be more familiar with one of the companies he is responsible for, SCT Performance Tuning. I was completely blown away with Brian’s knowledge and experience in that industry. His position in the design and engineering areas at the OE level as well as a great understanding of the government regulations arena are as impressive as I have ever seen. Just the fact that Brian is so involved in these two areas more than qualify him as the best potential SEMA board candidate I have seen in a long while. Now let me explain more about Brian that is very impressive:
  • • Brian has been engaged with ETTN At the council level. He is passionate about membership and how SEMA can grow through the councils and use the councils to help guide the Association.
  • • Brian is a car guy through and through. His daily driver was completely built in his garage, by him personally, from a totaled fire case into an impressive hot rod street car.
  • • Helped develop and promote an SAE standard, J2534 that was the basis for standardizing reprogramming and OE diagnostics. He is also listed as the inventor in over 100 patents. This proves that Brian is one that thinks through problems and follows them through to a solution.
  • • Brian has a passion for young entrants into the automotive world. Whether they be workers or just car enthusiasts, Brian has a desire to reach them through the councils or just plain networking. He would like to see a presence in high schools and vo-tech schools to introduce SEMA to the younger generation.
  • • Brian has been involved with the SAE Formula series at the college level and has helped in the Industry days that have been help at the SEMA Garage in Ann Arbor.
Do you need anything else? I could go on but I will wrap up by saying that Brian is just about the most qualified candidate for the SEMA Board that I have seen in a long time. He will be an asset to SEMA and the Board and one that I would have loved to have on my board when I was Chairman. I believe that you would do the Industry and SEMA a favor by voting for Brian Herron for the SEMA Board.

I do not know of a person who is any better qualified in our industry regarding electronics…I am endorsing Brian Herron for the SEMA board of directors. I do not know of a person who is any better qualified in our industry regarding electronics. This area has become very important and will continue to be a serious issue for our entire industry. Every year it becomes more difficult for some of our member parts to be used on certain vehicles through the use of electronics. Certain parts will not be recognized by the vehicle’s computer unless preapproved for the vehicle’s computer.

Brian is not well known in our industry, but he would add critical skills and knowledge to the SEMA board, skills that are very important and needed. Please take the time to review his qualifications before you vote. I believe that you will agree that he has a skill set that will be beneficial to the SEMA members.

Brian Herron was an integral part of the industry’s successful efforts to enact right to repair laws in Massachusetts in 2012 and 2020; as well as a ballot initiative that was enacted in Maine in 2023. Specifically, his contributions were invaluable in the drafting of the legislation; and in providing real world evidence that is both understandable and compelling to legislators regarding the need for a right to repair. His value to the effort continues after enactment through his help in ensuring compliance with the laws by the vehicle manufacturers. Consumers and the independent aftermarket owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his unselfish willingness to contribute his time and expertise to right to repair efforts.  I believe his strong commitment to the growth and health of the independent aftermarket combined with his extensive technical knowledge of motor vehicle engineering would make him a valuable member for the SEMA Board of Directors.
